Board of Education

    The School Board is responsible for the operations of all McMinn County schools.  The Board selects an administrator to handle the day to day operations of the schools.  Beginning in 2000 the board will consist of 10 board members.  Two to be elected from each of the county's five districts.  The term of service is four years with the elections staggered.  The main office is located in the old Federal Building on White St. in Athens.

The Board of Education appoints the Superintendent of School, which is presently John Forgety.  Dr. Forgety has been called to serve our nation as a 1st Sergeant in The Army National Guard during this time of unrest.  Our hopes and prayers go with him.
